Skin gets it color from the pigment melanin. Melanin is made from the amino acid tyrosine. The enzyme tyrosinase transforms tyrosine into melanin. As more melanin is integrated into the protein the makes up the skin, the skin colors darkens.
Formula Back-2-1 contains exfoliating agents like lactic and citric acids that impart a lightening effect on the skin. As Formula Back-2-1 exfoliates the skin and as kojic acid interferes with melanin production, acne marks appear lighter. DMAE helps reduce the appearance of large pores.

Are there any health risks associated with Formula Back-2-1?
Because the Formula Back-2-1contains skin lightening agents, this product may make your skin more sensitive to the sun. For this reason you will need to wear a sunscreen while using the Formula Back-2-1. Noixia recommends using a full spectrum, UVA & UVB, sunscreen of at least SPF 15.
Noixia does not recommend using antibiotics, oral retinoids, and/or topical medications while using the Formula Back-2-1 unless directed by your physician as this can cause excessive skin drying.

Will Formula Back-2-1 cause permanent hypo-pigmented skin patches?
The skin color is determined by several factors including: hormone levels, season, sex and your ethnic background.
The Formula Back-2-1 works using exfoliating agents and tyrosinase inhibiting agents. The system does not contain potent chemical phenols that are typically associated with permanent skin lightening like trichloroacetic acid (TCA) skin peels.
Formula Back-2-1 uses weaker phenols in an exacted combination with botanicals and phospholipids. This system lightens acne scars and spots using progressive exfoliation and decreased melanin production.
The lightening effect of Formula Back-2-1 occurs gradually over a periods of days. This steady approach to skin lightening reduces the chances of permanent skin depigmentation that may occur with stronger, deep peeling phenols that depigment the skin in one session.
