Noixia Shifts Focus to Gene-Based Predictive Anti-Aging
September 29, 2007
San Diego based skin research firm, Noixia, dropped another bomb on the skin care world yesterday. Hailing that, “Simply making skin care products was not helping us live up to our mission of helping people to intelligently, safely and affordably enhance their image,” Noixia president Nicole Dial announced the company’s shift to focus on biochemical and genealogical based anti-aging methods.
Noixia president explains the chief reason behind the company’s sharp transition as, “Pure boredom.” According to Dial, “The whole draw of research is discovering something new and using this knowledge to profoundly impact the world around us.” Hints of a dramatic change for Noixia started in the lab, where Dial felt, “Our approach to testing new skin care formulations was not going to lead us to the groundbreaking discoveries in skin health that I know are possible.”
Dial confesses, that one day, “It just seemed as if skin care and even the most advanced skin care ingredients just seemed like band-aids that could not stand up to the major causes of aging and skin damage.” She lists those key aging provokers as genes, metabolic processes, the environment and of course, gravity.
To address the shorting comings of skin care as it stands, Dial asserts, “Skin care needs to become more strategic and definitely more customized.”
Dial remembers, “As a skin care researcher, I have always awaited the day when we would stop hailing a magic prick or a rock star ingredient as the Holy Grail of anti-aging.” In Dial’s view, “Those were the primeval days of skin care.”
The future of skin care Dial envisions, “Allows people to precisely predict when and where wrinkles or other skin imperfections are most likely to appear and take action to prevent the blemish’s arrival.”
According to Dial, factors that would help formulate this predictive skin care equation would include thoughts, stresses, hormones, environmental conditions, emotional predispositions, biochemistry and genealogy.
Dial claims that the real problem in skin care is not just wrinkles with age. She declares, “The metabolic and environmental changes in the body like thinning skin, sagging skin, sunken eyes, bulging veins, enlarged bones, memory glitches and blotching skin expose an aging body. No cream or shot could ever fix all that.”
Dial concludes that the best way to prevent aging is to predict how the aging process in an individual will happen, and then take personalized steps to pre-empt this process. For Dial, “Probing the fields of genealogy and biochemistry will soon make predictive anti-aging a reality”.
